MyTax is LHDN's e-services portal at mytax.hasil.gov.my, and it is the way into MyInvois. There is no separate MyInvois registration — you log in to MyTax, then open MyInvois from there. So before you can submit e-invoices through the portal, you need two things: a MyTax account, and the right role for your business.
This page explains how to register for MyTax, the role you need to access MyInvois, and the common login problems. It stops at the MyInvois door — what happens inside the portal is covered in MyInvois Portal: how to log in, register and submit e-invoices.
What MyTax is and how it connects to MyInvois
Both are LHDN systems, but with different jobs:
| MyTax | MyInvois | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | LHDN's tax e-services portal | LHDN's e-invoicing system |
| What it is for | e-Filing, TIN registration, taxpayer profile, roles, and various tax services | Creating, submitting and managing e-invoices |
| How to access it | Log in directly at mytax.hasil.gov.my | Through MyTax |
How it connects to e-invoicing: MyTax is where you get access and roles; MyInvois is where e-invoices are issued and validated. If you use software that submits through the API, you still need MyTax to set up your taxpayer profile and that system's credentials in the MyInvois Portal.
How to register a MyTax account
The route depends on whether you are already registered as a taxpayer.
If you do not have a TIN number yet
First register as a taxpayer through e-Daftar — LHDN's online application for TIN verification and registration. e-Daftar covers categories such as individuals (IG), companies (C), employers (E), partnerships (D), LLPs (PT) and cooperatives. For foreign taxpayers, LHDN provides e-Daftar e-KYC through the MyTax mobile app.
Not sure whether you already have a TIN? TIN number in Malaysia: what it is and how to check it explains how to check — Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above usually already have one.
Logging in for the first time: apply for a PIN number (digital certificate)
To log in to MyTax for the first time, you need to apply for a PIN number, which is the MyTax digital certificate. LHDN provides two online ways:
| Method | How | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| e-KYC | Through the MyTax mobile app — you verify your identity by matching the photo in your MyKad or passport with a selfie | Anyone with a smartphone and a MyKad/passport |
| e-CP55D | Through the MyTax Portal on a desktop or laptop, to register the digital certificate | Anyone who prefers to use a computer |
Once the digital certificate is registered, you log in to MyTax with your identity card or passport number.
If you run into problems with the online methods, contact LHDN through the channels at the bottom of this page, or visit an LHDN branch.
The role you need to access MyInvois
This is the most common obstacle: you can log in to MyTax and open MyInvois, but your company does not appear. That is because MyInvois opens in your own name; your business only appears once the right role has been approved and is active in MyTax.
The roles LHDN sets:
| Role | For whom |
|---|---|
| Business Owner (Pemilik Perniagaan) | Individuals running a sole proprietorship only |
| Company Director / Organisation Administrator (Pengarah Syarikat / Pentadbir Organisasi) | All other categories — partnerships, companies, cooperatives and so on |
| Estate Administrator (Pentadbir Harta Pusaka) | Those administering a deceased person's estate |
| Business Representative (Wakil Perniagaan) | Appointed by the Business Owner in MyTax |
| Company Director / Organisation Administrator Representative (Wakil Pengarah Syarikat / Pentadbir Organisasi) | Appointed by the Company Director / Organisation Administrator in MyTax |
Three important rules from LHDN:
- A change of director is not automatic. The previous Company Director / Organisation Administrator has to cancel their role before the new one can apply — and after that, all existing representatives have to be appointed again.
- Records have to be in order before appointing a representative. The Business Owner must make sure the business information and employer information in LHDN's records are in order before appointing a Business Representative.
- Roles are applied for separately for each environment. Access to the production environment does not give access to the testing environment (sandbox), and vice versa.
Common login problems
"I can log in but my company is not in MyInvois." Your role has not been approved or is not active yet. Check the status of the role application in MyTax. Once it is active, in the MyInvois Portal click the profile icon and choose Switch Taxpayer.
"The new director cannot apply for the role." The previous director has to cancel their role first.
"My representative has lost access." If the Business Owner or Director has changed, all representatives have to be appointed again.
"I do not have a MyTax account at all." Apply for the digital certificate through e-KYC or e-CP55D as above; if you are not yet registered as a taxpayer, start with e-Daftar.

Once you are in
Once your MyTax account is active and your role approved, you can open MyInvois, activate your business profile, and start submitting e-invoices. Those steps — submitting, batch upload, appointing representatives and registering an ERP system — are covered in the MyInvois Portal guide.
